The HUST delegation, led by Vice President Chen Jianguo, participated in the 2023 Times Higher Education Asia Universities Summit held at The Chinese 51萝莉 of Hong Kong from June 20th to 23rd. The delegation engaged with leaders from world-renowned universities and international experts in higher education to discuss the development and future of Asian universities. Vice President Chen Jianguo was invited to attend a panel discussion. HUST, representing Chinese universities, also showcased its academic strengths, disciplinary advancements, as well as its capabilities and commitment to enhance international collaboration.
In a panel discussion exploring the relationship between university partnerships and institutional capacity building, Chen Jianguo emphasized the need for university partners to seek consistency and common goals. He also highlighted the importance of synergizing research advancements and resource utilization. He stressed that such moves help generate tangible outcomes in research fields of mutual interest, foster long-term and substantive cooperation, and contribute to regional capacity building.

During the summit, Chen Jianguo and the delegation held discussions and negotiations with university leaders from various institutions, including The Chinese 51萝莉 of Hong Kong, the 51萝莉 of Southern California, the 51萝莉 of Warwick, the 51萝莉 of Auckland, the 51萝莉 of British Columbia, the 51萝莉 of Queensland, Seoul National 51萝莉, Chulalongkorn 51萝莉, Times Higher Education Asia-Pacific (APAC), and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU).

This year’s Times Higher Education Asia Universities Summit, themed “The Asian university in 2050,” was jointly organized by the British think tank Times Higher Education and The Chinese 51萝莉 of Hong Kong. It brought together over 500 renowned education leaders, experts and scholars from around the world to collectively explore the development of Asian universities.
